Stage 1: Review of current position
Understanding where you are on your journey towards energy efficiency and net zero
We start by collecting existing information that you will already have, including energy bills and Display Energy Certificates (DECs). We will work with you to review your energy spend and existing strategies, advising on current statutory compliance requirements and funding opportunities which may be available to support you.
This information will be crossed checked against your building condition data, a fundamental step because the age, condition and type of construction within your estate will play a key role in determining how thermally efficient your buildings are.
Stage 2: Buildings & behaviour audit:
On site audit of your buildings and energy use
We visit you and your buildings to gather more detailed information and gain a clear understanding of the strengths and liabilities within your estate. This could include:
An energy performance audit
Evaluation of current energy use behaviours with key stakeholders
Reviewing controls of your existing systems such as lighting, heating, building management systems
Building condition: reviewing any gaps in information such as understanding the thermal fabric in your roofs, walls, windows, doors and lofts or the construction details such as age, type and wall thickness.
Benchmarking usage against average usage for similar sized schools
Stage 3: Analysis and roadmap
A realistic plan of action
After our visit we will analyse the information and provide a costed, realistic plan of action. It will include recommendations for quick wins to improve energy performance and deliver cost savings along with long term plans for achieving net zero with support for funding applications. Examples of recommendations include:
Behaviour changes to promote reduced energy use
Medium term solutions which could include LED Lighting, Solar PV, EV Chargers, Motor efficiencies, BEMs, Smart technologies and IoT.
Long term solutions for building fabric upgrades, ventilation improvements, installation of heat pumps, building and energy management systems.
Stage 4: Agreement and implementation
Bringing everyone on the journey
Once you are happy with the roadmap proposed, we will be on hand to support you to bring all relevant stakeholders with you on the journey and commence implementation of the plans.
We have extensive experience in securing funding to decarbonise, such as the Low Carbon Skills Fund and the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. We will work with you to ensure that you available building maintenance funding can deliver both building condition upgrades alongside energy efficiency.
